About the event

Willie Nile was born as Robert Noonan (June 7, 1948) in Buffalo, New York. He is an American singer-songwriter who plays folk, alternative, and rock. Nile attended the University at Buffalo studying philosophy, and before initiating his music career, he lived in Greenwich Village. He suffered from pneumonia and wrote songs during a year-long recovery process. After recuperating, he began frequenting clubs like CBGB, where he performed alongside Television, the Ramones, Patti Smith, and Talking Heads.

Nile released a self-titled debut album in 1980, followed by his second album entitled Golden Down in 1981. This album involved some protracted legal problems, which resulted in curtailing Nile's career for some years. In 1991, he again began releasing music, including a CD entitled Places I Have Never Been. Since then, Nile has recorded and performed with several musicians such as Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Ringo Starr, Tori Amos, Ian Hunter, and Barenaked…
